Christmas in Rogersville -- Big Day
December 15, 2012
Did you hear about the annual Parade of Lights? This event is
set to start at 5 PM on December 8, 2012 at the Joe Wheeler State Park
Marina. tomorrow's event showcases many of the boats that dock at the
park's marina as they sail and/or motor past the park Lodge decked out
with Christmas Cheer (and not just a few lights)!!
Did you hear about
the annual Rogersville Christmas Parade? Starting along Lee Street at
around 5 PM on December 15, 2012, this event is the Christmas Parade you
remember from your younger years (given you have been around the block a
few times). With a marching band, floats, singing, lights flashing
from police car and fire trucks, candy thrown into the crowd lining the
parade route this annual event is sure to bring back and create great
memories. And, of course, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be there.
Did you hear about
the annual Rogersville Yule Log Ceremony? Set to start about 15
minutes or so from the end of the parade (6 PM, December 15, 2012), this
great Christmas celebration takes place in the 1881 Presbyterian church
building on Lee Street just west of the downtown area. Enjoy songs of
the season performed by local singers while partaking of cookies and hot
cider provided by the local Civitan club. For those that are not sure,
a yule log ceremony signifies thanks for the past year along with the
hope of good tidings for the future.
Have a blessed Day.
