Fall Fun in Rogersville, AL

Talk about something unique and fun!!

Located just an hour west of  Huntsville Alabama and two hours from both Birmingham and Nashville, TN., this year in Rogersville com enjoy -

Christmas will be a festive season that will begin during the last part of November and run thru most of December with: a Christmas Parade, the Lighting of the Town, a Christmas Open House, the Parade of Lights, a unique Yule Log Ceremony, a Historic Candlelight Tour of our Downtown.

With "Twelve Days of Christmas" a the theme,

here are some of the details:

First is our yearly Christmas Open House that will be the town’s 1st Saturday event on November 3. Christmas Open House offers shoppers an opportunity to find beautiful new Christmas decorations and items for display. Shoppers will also find new merchandise in stores for the winter and Christmas season. Although the town loves to celebrate and decorate for Autumn and Thanksgiving, participating merchants will have their Christmas lights in their shops and will turn them on outside for this year's Christmas open House.

Second, the Town will officially light up the town's streets, parks and Christmas trees on the yearly Lighting of the Town event, the day following Thanksgiving. This year it falls on November 23.

Third, on November 10 we are launching a toy drive thru Toys for Tots, which is a program sponsored by the US Marines. We will be placing boxes around town for any donation of packaged, un-used toys. All the donations that are made here in Lauderdale County will be used for families in North Alabama, especially our area. So your contribution will help neighbors have a better Christmas. Drop-off locations will be posted at a later date.

Fourth, on December 1, there will be special festive events taking place in town. There will be a Historic Candlelight Walking Tour of downtown Rogersville led by Dr. Bill Maloney. There will also be hot cider & s’mores provided that evening. The Toys for Tots toy drive will conclude and the toys will be picked up by two uniformed marines that will visit the shops and be on hand for several hours thru out the day. Their schedule will be added later.

Fifth, on December 7, the Chamber Christmas Breakfast meeting will be held at 7:30 am at Joe Wheeler Lodge. This is our annual meeting with new officers and board being instated, awards given and general merrymaking.

Sixth, on December 8, Joe Wheeler holds their annual Parade of Lights on Lake Wheeler. To enter your boat or get additional details, contact Joe Wheeler @ 256-247-5461.

Seventh, on December 15 at 5 pm the Rogersville Christmas Parade will take place thru downtown. It will be followed by the Yule Log Ceremony at the Historic Presbyterian Church.

To participate in the parade or for questions on any of the planned events, please call the chamber office at 256-247-9449.

Have a blessed Day. Betty Maloney
